Achieving the Dream (ATD) is a partner and champion of more than 300 community colleges across the country. Drawing on expert coaches, groundbreaking programs and a national peer network, ATD provides institutions with integrated, tailored support for every aspect of their work – from foundational capacities such as leadership, data and equity to intentional strategies for supporting students holistically, building K-12 partnerships and more. This is called Whole College Transformation.

San Juan College will receive coaching, resources and professional learning support to improve academic outcomes, build pathways to sustainable careers and spark economic and social advancement for students. This economic and social mobility initiative aims to implement comprehensive strategies to help more students, especially Black, Latinx, Indigenous and students of color and from high-poverty backgrounds, earn postsecondary credentials, including occupational certificates and degrees and create pathways to jobs with living-sustaining wages, benefits and potential for upward mobility.

San Juan College is truly committed to improving our performance indicators and meeting our region’s workforce development needs,” said Dr. Toni Hopper Pendergrass, president of San Juan College. “We have implemented numerous transformational strategies to improve student outcomes. With the assistance of Achieving the Dream and consultation with its national experts and coaches, we aim to further strengthen our graduation, transfer and job placement rates to have a greater impact on our Four Corners community.”
To be eligible to apply to participate, institutions must demonstrate that they serve a minimum of 45% of Black, Latinx, Indigenous and students of color and 20% Pell-eligible students.
